PARO FOOTBALL ACADEMY continues to shine on the Bhutanese football stage, securing multiple accolades at the 2023 Bhutan Football Federation Awards. The prestigious ceremony saw the academy claim top honors, reaffirming its status as a powerhouse in grassroots football development. In a triumphant repeat of 2022, Paro Football Academy emerged victorious across various categories, with the Bhutan Football Federation recognizing Paro Football Academy as the Best Grassroots Football Club (2023), Best Grassroots Football Project (2023), and Best Grassroots Football Volunteers (2023). Puspa Lal Sharma’s exemplary leadership earned him the title of Best Grassroots Football Leader (2023), while parents associated with the academy were celebrated as the Best Grassroots Football Parents (2023). This success follows a remarkable streak for Paro Football Academy, building on their 2022 achievements where Karma Jigme, the Club President, was honored as the Best Grassroots Football Leader (2022), and Gopal Rai secured the title of Best Grassroots Football Coach (2022). The academy’s commitment to nurturing talent from the grassroots level has made them a consistent winner, as evidenced by their recognition as the Best Grassroots Football Club (2022) and Best Grassroots Football Project (2022) in that year. The international football community also took notice in 2019 when the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) bestowed upon Paro Football Academy the title of Best Grassroots Club, acknowledging their exceptional contributions to grassroots football development. This ongoing success highlights the academy’s dedication to fostering football talent at its roots and reinforces its position as a leader in football development in Bhutan. Grassroots Football Day 2022 – Bhutan
Bhutan Football Federation observed BFF grassroots day at Changlimithang Stadium on the 67th anniversary of the birth of our fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The Grassroots Football Day, which includes events to showcase the abilities of young children, and has become into an annual event in the Bhutan Football calendar. The program’s primary goal is to recognize the numerous clubs that have contributed to the development of grassroots football, its promotion, and the growth of youth football participation. The programme was graced by Kuwait ambassador to Bhutan H.E. Mr. Fadel Haider Saud Alhasan, President of Bhutan Football Federation Dasho Ugen Tsechup, Executive member and chairperson of Women’s Football in Bhutan Ms. Zimbiri, General Secretary of BFF Mr.Ugyen Wangchhuk , BFF Staff and Parents. Paro FC has been fortunate to be part of the programme. Paro FC received six awards from various grassroots football categories this year. We’re proud to be adjudged the best Grassroots Club in the country, but we’re even prouder of our unwavering team and the ability to hold these outstanding titles year after year. With the right people who treat each other the right way, Paro FC is thrilled to announce that we have swept the BFF Grassroots awards 2022 awards. Our team has worked hard to represent the future of football in Bhutan. With our stakeholders at the core of everything we do, we’ve built an academy -leading Grassroots program dedicated to a footballing culture unlike anywhere else. Year after year, these awards recognize our success as a football club — and we’re thrilled to celebrate the addition of a few more polished plaques in 2022. ‘I’m excited for the future because we’ve had such a great past. The people who have helped us along the way saw what we were all about. I feel very confident that in the next ten years, the core group of people will still be there.
