Controversy clouded during Paro and Druk Lhayul match
Puspa Lal the coach mentioned that, the last-minute goal Paro Fc conceded, in the club’s 2-2 draw match, to Druk Lhayul does not change his optimistic positive view of the performance. Paro FC displayed that the team possesses enough high quality skill to have emerged with three points. However, at times biased decisions, luck and missed chances costed Paro FC dearly. Even though , the first half of the match had to be settled for a goalless draw, in the second half of match Paro FC had more control over the game in terms of possession and chances. Out of four goals Paro Fc scored, two goals which were disallowed, a controversial and maybe biased decision that had changed the result at 90”. Druk Lhayul at 58” had led through substitute Jamoul Anthony, Paro Fc’s own clearance mistake had led to a goal made by the opponent. Paro Fc then responded immediately through Kazou’s close-range shot. Paro Fc’s second goal, came through Chencho Gyeltshen’s early low cross, and Kazou netted with a composed finish. Until, the 86th minute, Paro Fc was likely to settle for a 1-2 win, and defend the title. However, It all changed with a header from Druk Lhayul’s Tenzin Dorji, which slipped past Nono’s gloves into the net. It was too late for Paro Fc to respond and thus the team had to settle for a 2-2 draw at the end. Speaking after the game, Puspalal expressed: “The effort was there and the energy in the game was there. Had it not been to official errors, we would be easily through. It is unfortunate that at the end someone’s bias decision decides the result”. For Paro Fc, there were enough chances to win the game, but the equalizer at the last minute was unfortunate. It was a bitter sweet feeling, a feeling that the losing team will experience on the final day of the match. If Paro FC is to avoid such similar feelings, then Paro must fight tough against Thimphu City FC. A second chance for both teams to contest for the title.
Defending the title: How is Paro FC looking heading into the title deciding match?
Paro FC currently, has the best chance of defending the championship title on 27th December ,and will surely do so, if they win against Druk Lhayul, or draw from the next two matches. If this happens, Paro FC will go into Bhutanese football history, for being the highest Bhutan Premier League (BPL) Championship title holder. For Paro FC, this win will be its second successive and third title, within five years of its founding. That being said, the remaining two matches for Paro FC will not be easy or straight forward, since both fixtures are against the best BPL clubs and title contenders. Even with fierce competition, victory and winning is on the teams mind, but it’s easier said than done. Druk Lhayul FC and Thimphu City FC, both are strong contenders and have a team that can disrupt a lot of teams in the BPL. Paro FC has been leading the point table with forty-four points & remains undefeated. Thimphu City, one of the strongest contender for the championship stands second in the point table with forty points. Whereas, Druk Lhayul with thirty eight points stands in the third position, separated by just two points from their contemporary. As of now, Paro FC, requires two more points from the two matches in order to secure the Championship title.
PARO FC TWICE OVERCAME TRANSPORT UNITED
Yesterday two teams with a good head-to-head record met again in the BOB-BPL; the last match at home for Paro FC. Both did not fail to surprise each other on several occasions. In the recent BPL meeting; the home fixture for Transport United, Paro FC had come better of the two sides with a 0-2 victory away. However, Transport’s potential to upset any team did put huge pressure on Paro’s winning streak. With just two points separating the top two and three matches remaining in the season – a point drop for Paro could have consequences on the title race. Hence, Paro FC seemed to have treated all remaining games like the final, if they wanted to retain their title race on. Yesterday, the defending Champions showed a winning mentality; the visible difference between two equally good teams. Having nothing to lose, the visitors took an evident casual approach, since a draw was enough to keep them in the top five. For Paro it was altogether different – right from the first whistle, Paro went for a win – Transport was kept under constant pressure, and the majority of the ball possession was held by Paro FC. Transport United did get their chances but just posed a sublime threat. After several failed attempts, Paro FCs Dang broke free in the midfield and released a calculated through ball for Kazou who skillfully dribbled past the visitors’ defense line to put the ball behind the net – right before the halftime whistle. Going into the second half with a goal lead was not a comfortable scoreline for the host. Paro needed at least one more goal to stay comfortably ahead – it did not take long to get another goal through their defense. Transport needed to step up the attack, hence defense line was left open to counter – and the third goal for Paro came through a perfect counter from Kazou. At 68 minutes Kazou made no mistake smashing home from close-range the fourth goal for Paro, and a hat-trick hero did it in style yet again. The misery for Transport continued till the 90th minute with another goal from Kazou, making 5-0 for Paro. Paro needed to continue their unbeaten run till the last game of the season to defend the title or else Thimphu City FC or Druk Lhayul FC who are still in title contention could pose a threat to the defending champions.

She comes from a noble family, with a father who serves in the Bhutanese armed force and a mother as a house wife. She said that even though I had the chance to volunteer for grassroots football and to play for women’s team, it was difficult for me to make my livelihood. She also said that she has been fortunate and that God has listened to her prayers as she reflects on the challenging time in her life. Today, I am so grateful for all the good things that have occurred in my life and for the relationships I have forged with those who have constantly motivated me, assisted me in getting home, provided food, and helped mold me into the head coach I am today. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM? I get inspired when I look back to my youth when there was no proper training and support for women like we have nowadays. I put myself in the life of our players and get motivated to work as hard as possible to give them a better footballing including all aspects necessary for the development of the individual and team. In the other hand, I am always inspired by my mentor Coach Pushpalal Sharma and Technical Director Tosten Frank Spittler of our club. They provided me with ongoing technical and tactical advice so I could develop my strength. Lastly, with the less number of women’s coaches in Bhutan I like to work more professionally to stand for our country in near future. https://youtu.be/MBwIlPYqAdA HOW DID YOU GET INTO COACHING AS HEAD COACH? DOES IT WAS ACCIDENTAL? I was a player and a fan of football, which led me to decide to become a football coach immediately after I graduated from college. However, the club, my mentor, and my teammates, who constantly encourage me to be a great coach, were the ones who offered me the fantastic opportunity to be the women’s head coach. WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING FOCUS WITH YOUR CURRENT TEAMS “WOMEN TEAM? I often concentrate on the team’s overall growth. working on numerous strategies to use against various teams. I pay particular attention to personal growth in terms of technique, strategies, and motivation. SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE IN LEADING WOMEN’S TEAM IN BHUTAN TOP LEAGUE? Reaching the top is difficult; I personally experience pressure, motivation, and obstacles constantly. However, it is my responsibility to demonstrate that I am working to accomplish the club’s mission and our team’s aim. WHAT’S BEEN THE BEST THING FOR YOUR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AFTER TAKING JOB AT PARO FC AS WELL AS HEAD COACH? I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to hold the title of women’s head coach. Since it is true that beginnings are always difficult, I was always prepared to deal with them. This has made me stronger, and I even believe that situations like this will lead to easier paths in the future, but I still have a lot of work to do to advance. To do this, I enlist the assistance of the knowledgeable technical team around me.
Nightmare continuous for Paro Rinpung FC in the derby match against Paro FC
Fresh from their 4-0 win over Ugyen academy FC in the previous home match, Paro FC began the game against Rinpung FC with a couple of early chances. The game looked decisive right from the beginning and it was just a matter of time – When and how many, Paro will score? Paro FC with the many of regular starters on the bench, still enjoyed majority of the possession. For Pushpa Lal, squad rotation was more for injury & card prevention as the BPL season comes to an end with just three title-deciding games remaining. The first goal for Paro came from Yusuff at twenty minutes with a brilliant assist from Kazou. Subsequently, Phub Thinley’s low cross put Dela Row on the score sheet for the first time, making it two for Paro. Rinpung were unable to break Paro’s stubborn defensive line with hardly getting any shot on target. The third goal for Paro came again from Dela Row at thirty-five minutes. In second half a number of substitutions were made for Paro FC, more so to give players a rest. Chencho Gyeltshen came in as a substitute for Kazou after recovery from an shoulder injury, unfortunately both failed to add to their total goal tally. Twice Chencho come closest after hitting the post and goali. The second half for Rinpung was much better, and their effort paid off without conceding a goal. Although Paro kept constant pressure and created numerous chances, the goal never came through, and had to settle for 0-3 at full-time. The remaining three matches are crucial and title deciding. First we host Transport United FC at home, followed by Druk Lhayul FC and Thimphu City FC at Changlimithang Stadium.
Paro FC eased UA FC with 4-0 victory at Woochu Sports Arena
Paro FC have beaten the UA 4-0 at Woochu Sports Arena despite strong show of characters from the visitor. Previous draw gave visitor a strong believe to take three points, and stay in top five on the point table. Unlike at UA ground, determine as they may look, boys were no match to physically dominating Paro FC. Right from the first whistle, Paro kept constant pressure and It was just a matter of time. At seven minutes, beautiful executed corner kick from Phub Thinley and equally powerful header from fullback Nima Tshering give Paro FC a lead. Despite dominating the possession, Paro had to settle for a goal lead at halftime. The second-half performance from Paro was no different, constant pressure from the host had made visitor’s comeback difficult. Dele-Row came on as a substitute for Kabi Raj at 75 minutes, his impact was felt immediately with few goal scoring chances and an assist to Kazou. Join us in support of Paro FC to help Paro FC grow stronger.
BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY !!!
Paro FC will welcome UA FC at Woochu Sports Arena on 3 Dec, 2022. Both clubs are aiming for three points in the BOB Premier League and the upcoming game will be crucial in building momentum. The critical three points from the victory will allow Paro FC to top the leaderboard with a two-game point advantage over the second spot team. In their most recent match, both teams scored once in a tie. In that match, Chencho Gyeltshen scored a iconic goal to save Paro FC from losing and preserve one point for the team. Paro FC’s away draw at Ugyen Academy ground in the first leg halted the race for the championship; will the UA boys show up with the same passion this time, or will Paro FC be ready? Away games at UA stadium were always challenging because of their large crowds, uneven playing field, heat, and other factors. This time, we host them at WOOCHU SPORTS ARENA, our very own home field. “We are ready, and we will use whatever strategy to earn three points,” said Puspalal. They are youthful and equally competitive, so it won’t be an easy ride; if they’re not taken seriously, this team can surprise any BPL teams. When analyzing Paro FC’s game plans, it can be challenging to identify certain players because the coach frequently rearranges the lineup. As a result of their strong play and use of their home field, Paro FC has not stopped humiliating visiting opponents as of today. Combination of Chencho Gyeltshen and Kazuo Honma has shown to be extremely remarkable to break the opponent at any time. Tsheltrim and Florent, the ball makers, are magicians; at any time, they may put the opposition in a position where all they can do is watch the ball. Similar to how Purpha, Lobzang, and Yeshi are in excellent shape and turn the tables on their opponents. Everyone’s favorite defender is DANG, a man whose strength allows him to outperform the opposition. To handle him in the field would be too hot. Any point dropped by Paro will benefit Thimphu City and Druk Lhayul FC, who are both lagging behind with only a few points separating them from the leaders. Paro FC must persevere to the last end.
Another win, another clean sheet ! (Paro FC vs RTC FC)
Big game for Paro FC against another young team, Royal Thimphu College FC (RTC). Highly anticipated fixture after the excellent shown by the RTC in the last match. The visitors are looking to keep the winning momentum and grasp three points to stay in the top four. The visitor visibility looks good with possession in the early quarter of the game. Puspalal had to make some tactical adjustment to counter the pressure, and were able to create constant pressure on the energetic side, that has resulted into a penalty. Kazou took in charge of the penalty, and comfortably sends RTC Goali the wrong way to put Paro ahead. Paro made sure to keep pressing high up the pitch to force RTC stay within their half. Paro FC got another opportunity with a prefect low cross from fullback Nima Tshering, and a tap from Kazou was enough to doubled his tally and sends Paro FC two goals upfront at twenty third minutes. The RTC struggled to progress the ball quicker and find hard to break Paro FC defense line. The RTC FC had a fair share of possession going to second half. Second half for Paro was much better in terms of attack and position. Several goal scoring chances were denied by visitors Goali, in total twenty shots and thirteen short on target against visitor’s four shots on target. Visibility Paro was dominating the possession through second half of the match. Nevertheless, visitors too had some good chances to equalize through set pieces. Gyeltshen zangpo had to make some close range saves. In the last quarter, Yusuf, made a comeback to replace Chencho Gyeltshen who was injured in an acrobatic over head-kick attempt. Pushpa’s men comfortably managed to keep visitors attack away from the goal to confirm three crucial points and a clean sheet ahead of Saturday’s clash against Ugyen Academy FC at Woochu Sports Arena.
Tigers keep momentum going: another win against BFF academy
The BPL table topper had indecisive first forty five minutes at Changlimithang yesterday. Opening ten minutes for Paro was intense and almost conceded an early goal, had it not been to great stop by skipper Gyeltshen Zangpo. That reminded Paro of the venerability at back, and game that could be anyones – if boys are not taken seriously. Finding an early net was urgent for Paro, to keep momentum and to stay on the top of the table. Paro FC failed to execute the game plan, and unable to show their first leg dominance. It was match of two equal halves, and had to settled for goalless at halftime. The first half performance from the BFF Boys was class of brilliance and persistence. “ we have been training for this big match – working on speed, endurance, physical and on physiology of the players” says BFF coach. The BFF boys have stick to the game plan and were much better as a team in the first half. However, the start of second half saw constant pressure on host, several chances were created one after another – Paro were playing more like a defending champion. What lacked in first half was made up in second with a renewed energy and sense of urgency. Constant high press from visitor ultimately lead to finding a header goal from Chencho Gyeltshen at 58 minutes. The credit also goes to Phub Thinley, for blocking the clearance that skillfully got converted into goal by Chencho. The first goal made all the difference, as game dynamics shifted and lot more chances were created. At 77 minutes, a through pass from Phurba finds Kazou to put visitor two goals ahead. On the other hand, BFF boys also have had their chances, but Paro FC defenders have kept things under control. BFF have improved considerably over course of season, and fully deserve applause. We now focus on Royal Thimphu College FC at Woochu Sports Arena on 27th November 2022 at 3PM.
